European Conference on New Technologies for Language Learning

The second edition of the European Conference “ICT for Language Learning” will take place in Florence, Italy, on 6-7 November, 2009. The aim of the conference is to promote and share good practice and transnational cooperation in the field of the application of ICT to language learning and training.

The conference is also an excellent opportunity for the presentation of previous and current language learning projects funded by the European Commission and by other sources.

Additional to organising the annual conferences, the ELS@Work project promotes the application of e-learning in language teaching at secondary school level. This is done through the training of teachers in the use, with their students, of the ELS on-line platform for the teaching and learning of five European languages (French, Italian, English, German and Spanish). As integration to the on-line language course also short modules on Business Culture in nine different European countries are available.

The platform, which has received the European Language Label, provides teachers with an innovative educational tool that integrates the classroom based teaching of foreign languages.
