EU as Global Actor
The Swedish International Programme Office for Education and Training invites to a European conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The conference, free of charge, is an international event in association with the Swedish Presidency of the European Union. The conference will be held in the Lund, Sweden on 28-29 September 2009 with the title ‘EU as Global Actor – meeting global challenges through creativity and innovation in local education’.
‘EU as Global Actor’ will be a unique arena for policymakers, experts and practitioners in education and training. The conference wants to bring the imperative implementation of Education for sustainable development into both the European context of lifelong learning and the European expression of key competences.
The conference will address these critical questions in an interactive, holistic, cross- sectored and hands-on way. With the local and regional perspectives as point of departure and UNESCO’s recently adopted 'Gothenburg Recommendations on ESD' as a guiding star, the conference programme is diverse in expression but interlaced in content. The programme includes keynotes from leading decision makers, inspiring lectures, interactive seminars, case -based workshops, study visits and an RCE exhibition fair – all interwoven with entertainment and receptions.
‘EU as Global Actor’ is arranged by the Swedish International Programme Office in cooperation with the City of Lund, Lund University and Region Skåne.
