European Gold Award Winner 2009: The Learning Teacher Network!
At an award ceremony in Prague, the Czech Republic, on 7 May the Learning Teacher Network was winner of the European Award for Lifelong Learning in Creativity and Innovation. The network received the gold prize for being best project in the Comenius programme.
The award ceremony was part of the European Conference on Innovation and Creativity in the Lifelong Learning Programme, which was organised by the European Commission in cooperation with - and within the framework of - the Czech Presidency of the European Union. The award was presented to the network coordinator Mr Magnus Persson by Mr Jan Figel, member of the European Commission for Education, Training, Culture and Youth, and Mr Ondrej Liska, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports in the Czech Republic.
- Without doubt, being selected by the Commission as the European Gold Award Winner is the greatest honour possible to a project and network, says the network coordinator Magnus Persson. The European Award for being an outstanding Comenius project in creativity and innovation is a very strong recognition of the successful and sustainable work carred out by our network partners and members during the last six years. With deep appreciation we thank the European Commission.
Additionally, the network and the award is portrayed in a new brochure published by the Education and Culture DG with the title 'Lifelong Learning Programme: Creativity and Innovation - European Success Stories'. A quote from the text: 'The network's innovative thinking contributes to a successful transformation of education at European level'. The network is described also in an adjoining brochure that highlights the Comenius programme in particular, with the title 'Comenius School Education: Creativity and Innovation - European Success Stories'.
