EU as Global Actor

The Swedish International Programme Office for Education and Training invites to the conference "EU as Global Actor - Meeting Global Challenges through Creativity and Innovation in Local Education". The conference will be held in the City of Lund in southern Sweden on September, 28-29 2009.

As an international event in association with the Swedish Presidency of the European Union, the conference will be a unique arena for policymakers, experts and practitioners in education and training by bringing the imperative implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into both the European context of lifelong learning and the European expression of key competences.

The conference will address these critical questions in an interactive, holistic, cross-sectored and hands-on way. With the local and regional perspectives as point of departure, and UNESCO’s recently adopted 'Gotherburg Recommendations on ESD' as a guiding star, the conference programme will be diverse in expression, but interlaced in content.

The conference will include keynotes from leading decision makers, inspiring lectures, interactive seminars, case-based workshops, study visits and an RCE exhibition fair – all interwoven with entertainment and receptions.
