The International Children's Book Day
20 / 03 / 2009
Since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books.
The celebrations were initiated by IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young people. Each year a different national selection of IBBY has the opportunity to be the international sponsor of ICBD. The member country this year to sponsor the event is Egypt, and the theme is "I am the World".
