Monitoring and Evaluation Report on the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable Development

The monitoring and evaluation report for Phase II of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) has been published. The report was launched at Rio+20 last week. It is now available on UNESDOC at: http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0021/002166/216606e.pdf and as attachment below.

This document is designed and written to engage the wider education and development communities. It is filled with quotes and boxes with concrete project descriptions illustrating the progress of ESD during the past three years. This M&E report captures the growth, changes, and emerging trends in ESD during the UN Decade.

The document also provides a very good summary on what ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) and the Decade proclaimed by the United Nations actually are about.

If you do not have sufficient time for reading the entire document, you are recommended to read pages 65 – 68 Key Findings and Ways Forward.

The full-length report, which is of particular use to academics and UN agencies for research and planning purposes, is available at: http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0021/002164/216472e.pdf
