Public consultations: which way forward for EU education and youth programmes?

The European Commission has just published the results of public consultations on the future generation of EU programmes for education and youth from 2014. Between September and November 2010, anyone interested was invited to give their opinions on the design of the funding programmes under the next multiannual budget of the European Union.

Half of young Europeans ready to work abroad

According to the latest Eurobarometer survey, 53% of young people in Europe are willing or keen to work in another European country, but lack of cash discourages many of them from taking a first step towards this by spending part of their education abroad. The survey highlights a huge gap between the widespread desire of young people to work abroad and actual workforce mobility: less than 3% of Europe's working population currently lives outside their home country. The survey, conducted in the context of the Commission's 'Youth on the Move' strategy, is published on the eve of the 2011 European Youth Week (15-21 May).

elearningeuropa.info, the European reference portal on education and technology, will launch on Thursday May 12, 2011 its new platform. It is designed and built user-centered and it contains participatory tools to communicate, share and discuss.

Let’s explore Europe – A nice book for children for free

A new book for children presents interesting facts and a lively overview of Europe. It also explains briefly what the European Union is and how it works. The publication can be ordered for free from EU Bookshop in any of the European languages.

EU education report on the achievement of targets

EU countries have improved their education systems in key areas over the past decade but they have achieved only one out of five benchmarks set for 2010, the European Commission's new progress report on education and training reveals.

Workshops on Emotional Literacy

In spring and autumn 2011 the EL4VET (Emotional Literacy for Vocational Education and Training) Project arranges workshops on Emotional Literacy in six different countries. Emotional Literacy is the ability to identify, understand and express our emotions in an appropriate way depending upon the situation we are in. This is also the case in identifying, understanding and reacting to others.
